Job Summary:
The Cashier is responsible to efficiently and accurately process transactions, including cash, credit, and debit payments, while providing excellent customer service. The role handles cash registers, reconcile payments, and maintain a tidy checkout area, ensuring a smooth and pleasant shopping experience for customers. Additionally, cashiers assist with answering customer inquiries, processing returns, and promoting sales and promotions as needed.
Job Responsibilities:
– Process customer transactions accurately and efficiently using cash registers or point-of-sale (POS) systems.
– Accept payments in various forms, including cash, credit cards, and mobile payments, and provide change as necessary.
– Ensure pricing accuracy by scanning or manually entering product prices and applying discounts or promotions as appropriate.
– Maintain a clean and organized checkout area, including stocking bags, removing debris, and sanitizing surfaces.
– Assist customers with inquiries, product location, and returns, providing friendly and helpful service throughout their shopping experience.
– Balance cash registers at the end of shifts and reconcile sales transactions, resolving any discrepancies with accuracy.
– Follow cash handling procedures and security protocols to safeguard against theft and fraud, including verifying identification for age-restricted purchases.
– Collaborate with other store staff members to meet customer needs, restock merchandise, and maintain store cleanliness and organization.
– Stay updated on product knowledge, store policies, and promotions to effectively assist customers and maximize sales opportunities.
– Uphold customer service standards and represent the store positively and professionally, fostering customer loyalty and satisfaction.
Job Knowledge & Skills:
– Ability to quickly and accurately perform basic math calculations, such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, to process transactions and provide correct change.
– Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy when entering prices, applying discounts, and counting cash, minimizing errors in transaction processing.
– Excellent customer service skills to greet customers, address inquiries, and resolve concerns in a friendly and professional manner, enhancing the overall shopping experience.
– Proficiency in operating point-of-sale (POS) systems or cash registers to efficiently process transactions, scan items, and generate receipts, ensuring smooth and timely checkout processes.
– Basic knowledge of store products, prices, and promotions to assist customers with product inquiries, recommend items, and apply discounts or promotions accurately, contributing to upselling opportunities and customer satisfaction.
– ERP knowledge, preferably SAP functional skills, is a requirement to be successful in this role.
Job Experience:
Minimum 3 years of working experience, with at least 2 years of relevant experience. GCC experience is a plus.
