Job Title: Assistant Department Manager/ Projects - Erbil
Overall Objective of the Job:
The Deputy/Assistant Department Manager supports the Head of the Project Department in managing the planning, execution, and delivery of projects across the organization. This role ensures effective coordination of resources, adherence to quality and compliance standards, and timely communication with stakeholders. By assisting in operational oversight, problem-solving, and process improvement, the Deputy/Assistant Department Manager enhances departmental efficiency, drives successful project outcomes, and ensures alignment with organizational objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Department Leadership Support – Assist the Head of the Project Department in day-to-day operations and decision-making.
- Project Oversight – Monitor project progress, review reports, and ensure adherence to budgets, schedules, and quality standards.
- Team Coordination – Facilitate communication among project managers, engineers, and site teams to resolve challenges effectively.
- Resource Management – Support planning and allocation of manpower, equipment, and materials for project efficiency.
- Quality & Compliance – Ensure projects meet company policies, technical standards, safety regulations, and client requirements.
- Reporting & Documentation – Prepare and review departmental reports, updates, and performance summaries for senior management.
- Stakeholder Communication – Coordinate with clients, contractors, vendors, and other departments for timely collaboration.
- Risk & Issue Management – Identify project risks, recommend mitigation measures, and follow up on corrective actions.
- Process Improvement - Contribute to developing and implementing project management procedures and best practices.
- Mentorship & Support - Provide guidance to junior staff, promoting teamwork and professional development.
- Delegated Leadership – Act as a substitute for the Head of the Department when required.
- Other Duties - Perform additional tasks as assigned to support departmental and organizational goals.

Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Master’s degree or certifications such as PMP, RMP, PBA, or PRINCE2 are an advantage.
- Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in project management, engineering, or related fields, including supervisory roles.
- Knowledge of project management methodologies, tools, and software (MS Project, Primavera, etc.).
- Proficiency in MS Office and ability to interpret technical drawings, contracts, and specifications.
- Strong team supervision, delegation, and mentoring abilities.
- Effective decision-making and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
