Are you an experienced Soil Engineer with a strong background in highway and infrastructure projects? Qaiwan Group is hiring a dedicated and knowledgeable Soil Engineer to support the geotechnical aspects of our Baban Autobahn Project. If you have expertise in soil testing, foundation recommendations, ground improvement, and highway embankment design—this is your chance to join a landmark infrastructure initiative in Sulaymaniyah.
Role and Responsibilities:
A. Conduct site investigations, soil sampling, borehole logging, and laboratory testing to assess ground conditions.
B. Analyze soil properties and provide foundation design recommendations for highway structures such as bridges, culverts, embankments, and retaining walls.
C. Review and interpret geotechnical reports, test results, and design parameters for roadworks.
D. Collaborate with highway, structural, and drainage engineers to ensure geotechnical considerations are fully integrated.
E. Evaluate ground improvement methods such as soil stabilization, compaction control, and slope protection techniques.
F. Oversee field testing including Standard Penetration Test (SPT), Plate Load Test (PLT), and CBR tests.
G. Provide technical support during earthwork, excavation, backfilling, and pavement layer construction.
H. Ensure compliance with international geotechnical standards and local authority regulations.
I. Monitor site conditions, settle potential geohazards, and propose appropriate mitigation strategies.
J. Prepare and present detailed geotechnical reports, site logs, and risk assessments to the project team.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
i. Bachelor’s degree in Geotechnical, Civil Engineering, or Soil Mechanics (Master’s preferred).
ii. Minimum 5-8 years of experience in geotechnical engineering related to highway, road, or large infrastructure projects.
iii. Proven experience in soil classification, embankment design, foundation evaluation, and slope stability analysis.
iv. Familiar with geotechnical software (PLAXIS, GEO5, Slope/W, etc.) and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
Required Skills:
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Strong communication and reporting skills to liaise with design teams and contractors.
Ability to manage site investigations and supervise field testing teams.
Detail-oriented with a commitment to safety and quality.
English proficiency required; Kurdish and Arabic are a plus.
