Position Overview
MILE is seeking a Project Coordinator to support coordination between mine action stakeholders and strengthen information management and GIS capacities in Iraq. The coordinator will facilitate capacity-building, manage stakeholder engagement, and support the integration of climate and environmental data into mine action planning and post-clearance land use.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate between Mine Action stakeholders, including National Mine Actoin Authority (DMA and IKMAA).
- Support capacity-building for national NGOs and NMAA in Information Management (IM) and GIS.
- Facilitate GIS and spatial analysis trainings, including climate risk mapping, pollution mapping, and post-clearance planning.
- Support development of GIS-based risk and recovery maps, integrating environmental and climate data.
- Provide technical assistance to NMAA during the transition to IMSMA Core.
- Assist in climate-adaptive land-use assessments and environmental sensitivity analysis.
- Compile GIS training materials and contribute to capacity-building modules.
- Prepare and maintain a national database of mine action actors.
- Contribute to studies on the impact of climate change on mine action in Iraq.
- Support MILE’s networking and partnership-building efforts.
- Ensure inclusion of women, youth, and marginalized groups in all activities.
- Prepare monthly progress updates and narrative/activity reports.
Deliverables
- At least two GIS capacity-building sessions delivered.
- National contact database of mine action stakeholders established.
- GIS training materials compiled.
- GIS workshops organized for NGOs and NMAA.
- Climate change impact study on mine action completed.
- Monthly progress reports submitted.
Qualifications
- University degree in Information Management, GIS, Environmental Studies, or related field.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in project coordination, preferably in humanitarian mine action or environmental projects.
- Strong knowledge of GIS, IMSMA, and spatial data analysis.
- Experience in capacity building and delivering trainings.
- Familiarity with climate change, environmental data, and post-clearance land use planning.
- Excellent coordination, communication, and reporting skills.
- Fluency in Arabic and English (written and spoken). Kurdish language skills are an asset.
