Medical Science Liaison (MSL)
We are actively sourcing for a Medical Science Liaison based in Iraq. This role involves executing both short- and long-term medical strategies with a focus on biopharmaceutics, aligned with business priorities. It includes providing scientific updates and managing medical information for internal and external stakeholders, fostering educational collaborations with healthcare professionals, and overseeing therapy area communication plans. Additionally, the position entails engaging in scientific exchanges with targeted experts and sharing competitor intelligence with internal teams.
Roles and Responsibilities:
External Experts (EEs) Development:
- Mapping and identifying EEs within the country, planning and executing activities such as speaker trainings, advisory board participation, and round-table discussions
- Establish strong scientific relationships with top EEs, supporting publication efforts, coordinating with CRA/CROs on clinical studies, and demonstrating leadership in executing medically owned initiatives, with performance indicators tied to the quality and impact of these engagements
Internal collaboration and feedback/Tactical Planning:
- Contribute medical insights to brand tactical planning and therapeutic area strategies, including identifying potential investigators for clinical operations
- Maintain active internal communication by sharing EE feedback, competitor intelligence, emerging management trends, and local epidemiological updates.
Scientific Information Management and dissemination:
- Deliver updates on therapeutic areas through presentations, medical education meetings, and round-table discussions, including slide deck preparation and direct engagement with external experts
- Lead scientific discussions across internal and external stakeholders, support medical queries, literature reviews, and health authority interactions, while assisting the Medical Information team in providing accurate information to healthcare professionals
Internal training:
- Deliver scientific training and continuous updates to the Field Force and internal stakeholders, including induction and cycle meeting sessions
- Serve as an educational resource by reviewing and sharing new publications, competitor updates, and therapeutic area data
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in pharmacy, medicine/MD/ or equivalence
- At least 2 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry
- Previous experience in any disease area. Metabolic is a plus
- Based in Baghdad and able to travel to different governess
- Proficiency in Arabic and English
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Advanced presentation and computer skills with expertise in literature identification and evaluation
- Highly motivated & capable of learning large amounts of scientific content which is then communicated in a clear, concise fashion through letters and presentations
- Intellectual curiosity about the field of science /medicine for which they are responsible
- Ability to work effectively and share information within a team environment
- Excellent self-management skills and ability to adapt services provided based on customer needs
- Good understanding of business and commercial environment
