Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Advanced Accountant to join our finance team in Erbil. The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in financial reporting, cost accounting, and regulatory compliance specific to the oil and gas sector. This role requires a professional capable of managing complex financial operations and contributing to strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
-Prepare and analyze complex financial statements and management reports
-Lead the month-end and year-end closing processes
-Handle full-cycle accounting including general ledger, journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations
-Perform detailed cost accounting for refinery operations (materials, labor, production, etc.)
-Develop and monitor budgets and forecasts, variance analysis
-Ensure compliance with Iraqi tax laws, IFRS standards, and internal controls
-Oversee payroll processing and related financial records
-Support external audits and manage relationships with auditors and regulatory bodies
-Provide financial insights and recommendations to management
-Utilize ERP/accounting systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks, or similar)
Requirements:
-Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s or CPA/CMA preferred)
-Minimum 5–10 years of accounting experience, including at least 3 years in the oil & gas, refinery, or heavy industry sector
-Strong understanding of cost accounting, taxation, and financial reporting standards
-Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and advanced accounting systems
-Fluent in Kurdish and/or Arabic; strong English skills are required
-Strong analytical skills and the ability to work independently and under pressure
