The Legal and Recovery Officer will play a crucial role in managing the company’s debt recovery process. Their primary responsibility will be to pursue and recover outstanding debts from former riders and handle cases of bad debt. This position requires a strong legal background, specifically a law degree, and a solid understanding of government rules and regulations to ensure all recovery efforts are legally compliant. The officer will be tasked with preparing all necessary documentation and filing legal complaints, including police cases, against defaulting riders
Key Responsibilities:
- Debt Collection: He will be responsible for directly contacting and negotiating with former riders to recover outstanding dues. This involves setting up payment plans and following up on all commitments.
- Case Preparation: He will gather, organize, and prepare all relevant documents, contracts, and evidence needed to build a strong legal case against non-paying individuals. This includes compiling rider agreements, financial statements, and communication records.
- Legal Action: He will initiate and follow through on legal proceedings. This involves drafting and filing official police complaints, coordinating with law enforcement, and ensuring all legal paperwork is accurate and complete.
- Bad Debt Management: He will analyze and manage a portfolio of bad debt accounts, developing and implementing strategies to minimize financial losses for the company.
- Regulatory Compliance: He will stay informed about and ensure compliance with all relevant government regulations and legal standards related to debt recovery and civil litigation.
- Reporting: He will maintain detailed and accurate records of all recovery activities, including communication logs, case statuses, and financial recoveries, providing regular updates to management.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LL.B.) is a mandatory requirement.
- Proven knowledge of legal frameworks, government regulations, and the procedures for filing civil or criminal complaints.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical skills with a meticulous attention to detail for handling legal documentation.
- Ability to work independently, manage a high-volume workload, and handle confidential information discreetly.
- Prior experience in debt recovery or a related legal field is preferred.
