Key Responsibilities
- Advise senior management on legal strategy, compliance, and risk management.
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, MOUs, joint venture agreements, and service contracts.
- Ensure full compliance with KRG and Iraqi laws, including oil & gas and corporate regulations.
- Build strong relationships with MNR, MOI, Labor Office, and Social Security Office.
- Renew company licenses, legal documents, and registrations on time.
- Manage social security matters: submit monthly files and process withdrawals for departing expats.
- Renew KRG residency permits for expat employees without delays.
- Assist expat employees in obtaining Mukhtar letters, Asayish clearances, and other required approvals.
- Represent the company in legal proceedings and government negotiations.
- Oversee corporate structure, licensing, and local content compliance.
- Liaise with external legal counsel and government authorities.
- Support HR and operations teams on labor law, expatriate issues, and internal compliance.
- Provide regular legal updates and risk assessments to leadership.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Law (Iraqi or international).
- 10+ years’ experience in corporate legal advisory, ideally in oil & gas or infrastructure.
- Strong knowledge of Iraqi Companies Law, Kurdistan Investment Law, Labor Law, and oil & gas legislation.
- Expertise in corporate governance, regulatory affairs, and cross-border transactions.
- Fluent in Kurdish, Arabic, and English.
- Excellent negotiation, drafting, and communication skills.
- Solid understanding of Iraq’s civil and commercial legal systems.
