Saman Tea Private Limited is establishing its branch office in Iraq and is seeking a qualified and experienced Accountant to manage the complete accounting and compliance function of the Iraq operations.
The selected candidate will be responsible for handling daily accounting activities, ensuring compliance with Iraqi accounting and tax regulations, coordinating with auditors, and managing import-related financial transactions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain complete books of accounts in compliance with Iraqi accounting policies and regulations
- Generate and record local sales invoices and purchase entries
- Perform accurate data entry of all financial transactions
- Manage accounts payable and receivable
- Prepare and finalize monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Ensure compliance with Iraqi corporate tax, VAT (if applicable), and other statutory requirements
- Coordinate with external auditors and tax consultants
- Handle import-related accounting including customs duties, documentation, and payments
- Reconcile bank statements and monitor cash flow
- Prepare financial and management reports
- Ensure timely filing of tax returns and regulatory submissions
- Maintain proper accounting documentation and records
- Support management in financial planning and reporting
Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Minimum 3 years of accounting experience (preferably in Iraq)
- Strong knowledge of Iraqi accounting standards and taxation laws
- Experience in import/export accounting and customs duty procedures
- Proficiency in accounting software (preferably Al-Ameen, Odoo, Zoho Books, or other widely used Iraqi accounting systems)
- (Al-Ameen is among the most commonly used accounting software in Iraq)
- Strong command of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
- Experience in invoice generation, ledger posting, reconciliations, and finalization of accounts
- Ability to coordinate with auditors and government authorities
- Fluency in Arabic and English (spoken and written)
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Experience in trading/import companies preferred
