Role Summary
The HALO Trust is seeking a reliable and experienced Assistant Team Leader to join our team in
Baiji, to .The primary duty of the Assistant Team Leader as part of a mechanical or manual clearance
team is to assist the Team Leader in managing a HALO manual or mechanical team conducting clearance
of land contaminated by Improvised Explosive Devices, Unexploded Ordnance, and all other Explosive
Remnants of War as per the HALO Iraq Standard Operating Procedures. In addition to this document all
other employment conditions apply as laid down in the contract of employment and the employee
handbook.
Responsibilities
The Assistant Team Leader is responsible for the following:
• Supporting the Team Leader in all operational, safety, and administrative duties, and assuming full operational control in their absence with no reduction in standards.
• Leading and coordinating a team of up to eight clearance personnel, ensuring discipline, motivation, and maximum productivity at all times.
• Assisting with render-safe procedures of recovered IEDs, when appropriately qualified (IEDD), with full understanding of the risks and required protocols.
• Conducting strict and detailed Quality Control (QC) inspections of cleared ground and ensuring all work complies with national and HALO clearance standards.
• Acting as the first line of enforcement for HALO rules, procedures, and codes of conduct in the field. Immediate corrective action is expected in case of any breaches.
• Conducting high-quality community liaison engagements, demonstrating cultural sensitivity, clarity in risk communication, and the ability to de-escalate tense situations.
• Preparing timely, clear, and accurate daily reports, and personally ensuring the data’s integrity and completeness.
• Creating and continuously updating clearance maps, with a high standard of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Enforcing full compliance with HALO’s SOPs, safety regulations, security protocols, and both national and international legal frameworks.
• Taking full responsibility for team discipline, timekeeping, appearance, and behavior. Any deviation must be addressed immediately and reported to management.
• Maintaining strong, respectful relationships with local authorities, military or police units, and other agencies; ensuring HALO’s reputation remains untarnished.
• Taking command and decisive action in emergency or high-risk situations, and reporting all incidents with urgency, accuracy, and full accountability.
• Holding oneself and the team to the highest ethical standards, with zero tolerance for negligence, misconduct, or unprofessional behavior.
• Taking ownership of all issued equipment, uniforms, tools, and personal protective equipment — ensuring they are clean, maintained, and ready for deployment at all times.
• Demonstrating initiative, sound judgment, and reliability under pressure; seeking guidance when necessary but taking responsibility for decisions in the field.
• Accepting deployment to difficult environments and extended working hours as required by operational demands.
Undertaking all additional duties assigned by senior management with commitment and professionalism.

Qualifications
Essential
• Minimum of 3 years’ field experience in humanitarian mine action, IED clearance, UXO clearance.
• Minimum of 6 months in a clearance team supervisory role. Proven ability to lead diverse teams, often in challenging or remote settings
• Physically fit and medically cleared for clearance field deployment in remote or high-risk environments.
Desirable
• Valid IMAS EOD Level 3 (+) certificate (or equivalent internationally recognized qualification).
• Prior experience with HALO Iraq mine action standard operating procedures
• HALO Non-Technical Survey qualification
• HALO EORE qualification
• HALO ICP Training
• HALO Team Leader course completed
Skills
• Strong knowledge of IED/UXO clearance procedures, safety protocols, and field-level coordination.
• Strong map-reading and reporting skills, including the ability to produce and interpret clearance maps and detailed daily activity reports without error.
• Ability to remain calm and decisive under extreme stress, including during incidents involving explosives, injuries, or civil unrest.
• High level of integrity and personal accountability — a strict zero-tolerance approach to dishonesty, negligence, or misconduct is enforced.
• Basic computer literacy, including the use of GPS devices, mapping tools, and Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent discipline record, with no previous suspensions, written warnings, or formal complaints within the past two years.
Other Details & Application:
The HALO Trust team in Baiji works a Sunday–Thursday schedule, plus one Saturday per month
Start Date: 1 September 2025
Working Hours: 07:00 – 15:00 in winter months, 06:00 – 14:00 in summer months. Total of 48 hours per week.

المسؤوليات:
مساعد قائد الفريق مسؤول عن المهام التالية:
• دعم قائد الفريق في جميع المهام التشغيلية، والأمنية، والإدارية، وتولي السيطرة التشغيلية الكاملة في حال غيابه دون أي تقصير في مستوى الأداء.
• قيادة وتنسيق فريق مكون من ما يصل إلى ثمانية أفراد في عمليات الإزالة، مع ضمان الانضباط، والتحفيز، وتحقيق أعلى مستوى من الإنتاجية في جميع الأوقات.
• المساعدة في تنفيذ إجراءات التعطيل الآمن للعبوات الناسفة المرتجلة المسترجعة، عند امتلاك المؤهلات اللازمة (IEDD)، مع فهم كامل للمخاطر والإجراءات المطلوبة.
• إجراء تفتيشات صارمة ومفصلة للجودة (QC) على الأراضي المُطهّرة، وضمان الالتزام الكامل بمعايير الإزالة الوطنية ومعايير HALO.
• العمل كخط الدفاع الأول لتطبيق قواعد HALO، والإجراءات، ومدونات السلوك في الميدان، واتخاذ إجراءات تصحيحية فورية عند حدوث أي انتهاك.
• تنفيذ أنشطة تواصل عالية الجودة مع المجتمع المحلي، مع مراعاة الحساسيات الثقافية، والوضوح في إيصال المخاطر، والقدرة على تهدئة المواقف المتوترة.

المؤهلات
مؤهلات أساسية:
• خبرة ميدانية لا تقل عن ثلاث سنوات في الأعمال الإنسانية المتعلقة بالألغام، أو إزالة العبوات الناسفة، أو الذخائر غير المنفجرة.
• خبرة لا تقل عن ستة أشهر في دور إشرافي ضمن فريق إزالة، مع إثبات القدرة على قيادة فرق متنوعة، غالبًا في ظروف صعبة أو مواقع نائية.
• لياقة بدنية وصحة جيدة مع تصريح طبي للعمل الميداني في بيئات نائية أو عالية الخطورة.
موهلات اضافية:
• شهادة سارية المفعول في المستوى الثالث من IMAS لإزالة الذخائر المتفجرة (EOD Level 3) أو مؤهل دولي معادل.
• خبرة سابقة في إجراءات HALO التشغيلية الخاصة بإزالة الألغام في العراق.
• شهادة خبرة من HALO في المسح غير التقني (NTS).
• شهادة خبرة من HALO في التوعية بمخاطر الذخائر المتفجرة (EORE).
• تدريب HALO الأساسي (ICP).
• إكمال دورة قائد فريق HALO.
