Job Purpose
To oversee and manage all aspects of custody transfer metering systems in Field, primarily involving KROHNE ultrasonic meters, ensuring full compliance with international standards (API, ISO), contractual obligations, and regulatory requirements. The advisor will lead metering integrity, calibration, and reconciliation activities and serve as the SME for custody metering and instrumentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the custody transfer metering system operations using, but not limited to KROHNE ultrasonic meters and associated instrumentation, secondary metering devices of various manufacturers.
- Develop, review, and update metering procedures, protocols, and calibration standards in line with API MPMS, ISO, and local regulatory requirements.
- Monitor and optimize the performance of primary and secondary metering devices (flow computers, pressure, temperature, densitometers, and RTUs).
- Lead routine calibration, troubleshooting, diagnostics, and performance verification of custody metering systems.
- Manage metering data validation, discrepancy resolution, and reconciliation reports with partner companies and export terminals.
- Interface with operations, finance, third-party inspectors, and legal for any custody disputes or meter deviations.
- Ensure full audit trail, documentation, and regulatory compliance for all metering-related activities.
- Support meter proving and verification campaigns, FAT/SAT of metering systems, and acceptance of new units.
- Mentor junior metering engineers and ensure knowledge transfer within the team.

Expected:
- Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation, Electrical, or Control Engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum 15–20 years of international experience in custody transfer metering, preferably in upstream oil and gas.
- Proven hands-on experience with KROHNE ultrasonic flow meters, flow computers, and smart field instrumentation.
- In-depth knowledge of API MPMS standards, ISO 5167, and custody metering system architecture.
- Expertise in instrumentation calibration, loop checks, signal processing, and diagnostic tools.
- Strong experience in metering deviation management, reconciliation, and audit handling.
- Familiarity with measurement uncertainty analysis, and validation protocols.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting capabilities with clear communication skills.
- Willing to spend time in the plant(s)
Skills
- Arabic speaking highly preferred, English fluency mandatory.
- Experience working in Middle East oil & gas fields
- Certification in API MPMS or similar metering standards
- Familiarity with SCADA, DCS interfaces, and metering data management software
- Strong documentation, report writing, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Good computer skills

- Familiarity or experience with the following systems desired – work management system, integrity management system
