Job Summary
The Senior Accountant plays a key role in managing the financial operations of the company. This position is responsible for project-based accounting, cost control, compliance, and reporting, ensuring that all financial transactions are accurate, timely, and aligned with both company policies and legal requirements. The role also supervises junior accountants and supports management with insights for sound financial decision-making.
Job Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting:
- Prepare, review, and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) / Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Monitor and reconcile general ledger accounts.
- Prepare and manage accruals, prepayments, and adjusting entries.
Accounts Payable & Receivable:
- Oversee AR and AP processes, ensuring accuracy and timely posting.
- Review vendor invoices, payments, and customer collections.
- Manage aging reports and follow up on outstanding balances.
Budgeting & Forecasting:
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
- Provide variance analysis between actual results and budgeted figures.
- Recommend cost optimization measures.
Compliance & Audit:
- Ensure adherence to local tax laws and financial regulations.
- Prepare tax returns (VAT, corporate income tax, withholding tax, etc.).
- Support internal and external audit processes.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial documentation.
Cash Flow & Treasury Management:
- Monitor daily cash balances and bank reconciliations.
- Manage payments, fund transfers, and treasury operations.
- Assist in cash flow projections and working capital management.
Team Leadership & Support:
- Supervise and mentor junior accountants and finance staff.
- Review and approve accounting entries and reconciliations prepared by team members.
- Ensure proper allocation of tasks within the accounting team.
Qualifications & Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
· 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a senior or supervisory role.
· Professional certification (CPA, CMA or equivalent) preferred.
· Experience in [industry, e.g., Telecom/ISP/Construction Services] is an advantage.
· Strong knowledge of local tax laws and regulatory compliance.
