Job Overview
The Logistics Manager will oversee the end-to-end logistics function, covering procurement, warehousing, transportation, and customs clearance. This role requires a proactive leader with strong expertise in supply chain management, capable of navigating the complexities of the Iraqi market while ensuring seamless coordination with internal teams and external partners to support business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Logistics & Supply Chain Management
- Develop and execute logistics strategies that optimize cost, efficiency, and service delivery across Iraq.
- Design and improve supply chain networks, including warehousing, transportation, and distribution channels.
- Monitor logistics KPIs, analyze performance trends, and implement corrective actions for continuous improvement.
- Forecast logistics needs, allocate resources, and manage the logistics budget effectively.
- Incorporate global best practices, new technologies, and local market knowledge into operations.
- Develop contingency plans to address potential disruptions in the Iraqi supply chain environment.
Operations & Compliance Management
- Manage day-to-day logistics operations: warehousing, inventory, order fulfillment, transportation, and reverse logistics.
- Oversee import/export processes, ensuring compliance with Iraqi customs laws and international trade requirements (e.g., Certificates of Origin, Certificates of Conformity, pre-shipment inspections such as COSQC/Intertek).
- Build strong relationships with customs authorities, freight forwarders, and third-party logistics providers.
- Implement inventory control systems to reduce stockouts, minimize obsolescence, and optimize warehouse utilization.
- Ensure safe handling, storage, and transportation of goods in compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Regularly report on logistics performance to senior management and proactively address bottlenecks.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead and develop a high-performing logistics team, fostering a culture of accountability, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
- Provide training and coaching on customs procedures, inventory management, and transportation best practices.
- Define clear roles, responsibilities, and KPIs for all logistics staff.
- Promote a safe and efficient working environment across all facilities.
Skills & Competencies
- Bachelor’s degree or higher (preferred).
- Minimum 3 years’ experience as Logistics Manager in the automotive sector (car dealership preferred).
- Languages: English (required); Arabic and Kurdish (preferred).
- Strong expertise in logistics operations: warehousing, transportation, and inventory control.
- Deep knowledge of Iraqi customs regulations, import/export procedures, and international shipping documentation.
- Proven experience in managing freight forwarders, carriers, and 3PL providers.
- Analytical skills to identify and resolve logistical challenges with effective solutions.
- Collaborative leadership style with strong stakeholder management skills.
- Familiarity with logistics systems and technologies for tracking, planning, and reporting.
- Highly driven, results-oriented, and proactive in optimizing logistics performance.
