Job Overview:
The Logistics Manager will lead the entire logistics function, from procurement and warehousing to transportation and customs clearance. The role demands a proactive approach to managing complex supply chain challenges inherent in the Iraqi market, ensuring seamless coordination with internal departments and external partners to support business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Logistics & Supply Chain Management:
- Develop and implement comprehensive logistics strategies aligned with overall business goals, focusing on efficiency, cost optimization, and service delivery across Iraq.
- Design and optimize the entire supply chain network, including warehousing, transportation routes, and distribution channels, to ensure timely and efficient delivery of goods.
- Conduct in-depth analysis of logistics performance metrics, identify areas for improvement, and implement data-driven solutions to enhance operational efficiency.
- Forecast logistics needs, plan resource allocation, and manage the logistics budget effectively to achieve cost-saving initiatives without compromising service quality.
- Stay abreast of international and local logistics trends, technological advancements, and best practices, integrating them into operations for continuous improvement.
- Develop and maintain robust contingency plans for potential disruptions in the supply chain, particularly relevant in the Iraqi context.
Operations & Compliance Management:
- Oversee all day-to-day logistics operations, including inventory management, warehousing, order fulfillment, inbound and outbound transportation, and reverse logistics.
- Manage all import and export activities, ensuring strict adherence to Iraqi customs regulations, documentation requirements (e.g., Certificates of Origin, Certificates of Conformity), and international trade laws.
- Cultivate strong relationships with customs authorities, freight forwarders, clearing agents, and other third-party logistics providers to facilitate smooth and compliant movement of goods.
- Implement and monitor robust inventory control systems to minimize stockouts, reduce obsolescence, and optimize warehouse space utilization.
- Ensure the safe and secure storage, handling, and transportation of all goods, adhering to relevant safety and quality standards.
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for all logistics functions, regularly reporting on performance to senior management.
- Proactively identify and resolve logistical bottlenecks and operational challenges, minimizing delays and disruptions.
Team Leadership & Development:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing logistics team, fostering a culture of efficiency, continuous improvement, and problem-solving.
- Provide ongoing training and coaching to enhance team skills in areas such as customs procedures, inventory management, and transportation optimization.
- Establish clear roles, responsibilities, and performance metrics for all logistics personnel.
- Promote a safe and efficient working environment within all logistics facilities.
Skills & Competencies:
- A bachelor’s degree or higher qualification preferred.
- A minimum of three years of experience in a Logistics Manager position in a car dealership.
- English, Arabic, Kurdish.
- Expertise in managing complex logistics operations, including warehousing, transportation, and inventory control.
- In-depth knowledge of Iraqi import/export regulations, customs clearance procedures, and international shipping documentation. (e.g., Certificates of Origin, pre-shipment inspections like those required by COSQC/Intertek for Iraq).
- Strong experience in selecting, managing, and negotiating with freight forwarders, carriers, and other logistics service providers.
- Strong analytical skills to identify logistical challenges, analyze root causes, and implement effective solutions.
- Ability to build strong relationships and work collaboratively with internal departments and external partners.
- Familiarity with relevant logistics technologies and systems for tracking, planning, and reporting.
- Highly driven to achieve targets, consistently taking initiative and driving success in logistics operations.
