Summary
Looking for an experienced OpenStack Administrator to manage and maintain our private cloud infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have deep technical knowledge of OpenStack architecture, deployment, and operations, and will be responsible for ensuring high availability, performance, and scalability of the environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, upgrade, and troubleshoot OpenStack cloud components (Nova, Neutron, Keystone, Glance, Cinder, Horizon, etc.).
- Manage compute, storage, and networking resources across the OpenStack environment.
- Perform capacity planning, scaling, and performance tuning of cloud infrastructure.
- Monitor system performance and usage metrics, responding to incidents and outages.
- Automate provisioning and management tasks using tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or Heat.
- Manage user access, quotas, RBAC, and authentication mechanisms (LDAP/Keystone).
- Apply security best practices, updates, and hardening policies to OpenStack components.
- Maintain backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity strategies.
- Collaborate with DevOps, networking, and application teams to support cloud-hosted services.
- Write and maintain documentation for architecture, configurations, processes, and incident handling.
- Participate in 24/7 on-call support rotations for critical infrastructure.
Competencies
- Strong knowledge of OpenStack core services (Nova, Neutron, Cinder, Glance, Keystone, Swift).
- Linux system administration expertise (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu).
- Experience with virtualization technologies (KVM, QEMU, libvirt).
- Strong scripting skills (Bash, Python, etc.).
- Knowledge of SDN/NFV, VLANs, VXLAN, and other virtual networking concepts.
- Familiarity with monitoring/logging tools (Prometheus, Nagios, Grafana, ELK).
- Experience with high availability and fault tolerance in cloud environments.
- Understanding of cloud security and compliance requirements.
- Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or equivalent.
- Experience with container orchestration tools (Kubernetes, OpenShift).
- Familiarity with Ceph storage integration in OpenStack.
