The U.S Embassy in Baghdad is seeking eligible and qualified candidates for the position of Steward/Housekeeper at the Chief of Mission Residence (CMR) and Deputy Chief of Mission Residence (DCMR). The Steward/Housekeeper works under the guidance and supervision of the Employer or his/her authorized representative.
The Steward/Housekeeper position can be filled by either an Iraqi National or Third Country National (TCN). The selected candidate must be able to successfully pass the pre-employment medical and security clearance processes.
Position Title: Steward/Housekeeper
Job Duties: The incumbent is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Steward/Housekeeping department, ensuring a safe, clean, and sanitized environment while adhering to 5-star service and safety standards. Duties include cleaning all areas of the house (private and public), sweeping, mopping, dusting, and maintaining bathrooms, furniture, and appliances. The role involves laundering, ironing/steaming clothes and linens, with expertise in fabric care, and inspecting and maintaining the Employer’s and family members’ clothing. The incumbent welcomes guests with professionalism, performs light mechanical and preventative maintenance on household equipment, manages household supplies and inventory, and collaborates with the Chef(s) to coordinate food and beverage needs. Attention to detail, organization, and the ability to move furniture without damage are essential.

Employment Type: One-year contract, renewable each year.
Work schedule: The standard work week is defined as eight hours per day, six days per week, with one day off per week, as determined by the Employer. Overtime will be paid if warranted for longer hours due to official events.
Experience: Minimum of 3 years in housekeeping is required.

Annual Bonus: On the one-year anniversary of the effective date of this contract, an Employee who has satisfactorily performed the duties of his/her position as reviewed by the Employer will receive a bonus equal to one month’s base salary.
Meals: Three meals per day will be provided by the Employer at the dining facility or residence.
Medical Care: Medical care will be provided by the Employer.
Probationary Period: 30 days.
