Are you a certified UXO Specialist with hands-on experience in explosive ordnance risk mitigation? Qaiwan Group is seeking a qualified UXO Officer to join our team and lead the safe planning, coordination, and execution of unexploded ordnance clearance activities at our project sites.
Role and Responsibilities:
A. Plan, manage, and execute UXO clearance operations in accordance with national and international safety standards.
B. Conduct surveys and assessments of project sites to identify UXO risks.
C. Develop and implement UXO risk mitigation strategies and operational procedures.
D. Supervise and lead UXO technicians and clearance teams to ensure safe working practices.
E. Liaise with local authorities, military, and regulatory bodies for necessary permits and coordination.
F. Maintain detailed documentation and reports on UXO activities, findings, and disposals.
G. Provide UXO risk briefings, inductions, and awareness training to staff and contractors.
H. Ensure all detection and safety equipment is maintained and used properly.
I. Respond to emergency situations involving ordnance or suspicious items.
J. Keep up-to-date with evolving UXO disposal techniques, technologies, and regulatory updates.
K. Collaborate with HSE, Security, and Project teams to support safe project execution.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
i. Certification as a UXO Technician Level II or higher (required).
ii. EOD/IED disposal certification from a recognized authority (preferred).
iii. Minimum 5–7 years of field experience in UXO clearance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
iv. Experience working in post-conflict or high-risk areas, especially in industrial or infrastructure projects.
v. Strong knowledge of IMAS (International Mine Action Standards) and related protocols.
Required Skills:
1. Excellent leadership and operational planning skills.
2. Strong risk assessment and decision-making capabilities under pressure.
3. Clear and concise communication skills with both field and office staff.
4. Familiarity with UXO detection equipment, mapping software, and reporting tools.
5. Fluency in English is required; Kurdish and Arabic are advantages.
