Job Description
We are seeking a talented and dedicated Commis II to join our culinary team in Baghdad, Iraq. As a Commis II, you will play a crucial role in maintaining high standards of food preparation and service in our kitchen, contributing to our commitment to culinary excellence.
- Stock the assigned kitchen with raw materials and ingredients daily
- Operate and maintain kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
- Master basic cooking methods, including cutting ingredients and preparing daily mise en place for assigned stations
- Prepare food items according to standard recipe cards, maintaining portion control and minimizing waste
- Adhere to food safety and hygiene standards (HACCP) in all kitchen operations
- Clean and maintain all equipment within the food production area
- Report any hazards, unsafe working conditions, or equipment requiring repair to the immediate supervisor
- Participate in kitchen briefings, meetings, and training sessions as assigned by management
- Maintain a high standard of personal appearance and hygiene at all times
- Assist in controlling food portioning and wastage to ensure gross food profitability
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations and timely food service
Qualifications
- 1-2 years of experience in a five-star international chain hotel or equivalent culinary setting
- Proficiency in basic cooking methods, including ingredient preparation and mise en place
- Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards (HACCP)
- Ability to read and execute recipes accurately
- Excellent knife skills and food presentation abilities
- Proficient in operating and maintaining kitchen equipment
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Physical stamina and dexterity to perform kitchen tasks for extended periods
- Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and consistency
