Summary
Responsible for the operation, maintenance, integration, and configuration of Huawei RAN nodes, with a strong focus on 5G (gNodeB). Expertise in Ericsson and Nokia 5G RAN technologies is also essential to support a multi-vendor environment. The role further involves supporting multi-technology networks, including 2G (BTS/BSC), 3G (NodeB/RNC), and 4G (eNodeB).
Key Responsibilities
5G Network Operations & Maintenance
- Perform daily health checks, alarm analysis, and fault handling for 5G gNodeBs.
- Ensure stable operation of 5G nodes by conducting routine maintenance and performance monitoring.
- Analyze and resolve incidents related to 5G RAN components in coordination with NOC and vendors.
Node Integration & Configuration
- Integrate new gNodeBs, eNodeBs, NodeBs, and BTSs into the live network as per RAN work orders.
- Execute configuration scripts and parameter tuning for 5G and legacy RAN nodes.
- Validate node performance post-integration using OSS and performance tools.
Work Order Execution (From RAN Planning/Engineering)
- Implement software loads, parameter changes, carrier additions, and rehoming activities.
- Coordinate with transmission, core, and RAN engineering teams for seamless integration.
- Ensure accurate implementation of frequency plans, PCI, TAC, and neighbor relations as per RAN design.
Multi-Technology Support (2G/3G/4G)
- Maintain and support legacy mobile technologies (2G, 3G, 4G) within the network to ensure smooth coexistence and interoperability with the 5G infrastructure.
- Operate and maintain legacy RAN nodes (BSC/BTS, RNC/NodeB, eNodeB).
- Participate in inter-RAT integration (e.g., 4G–5G NSA, 3G–4G co-location).
- Support modernization projects like site swaps or technology upgrades.
Training and Transfer Knowledge
- Provide technical expertise and on job trainings to local engineers and operational teams on 5G BSS technologies.
Competencies
- Sound understanding of RAN architecture across all generations (2G to 5G).
- Experience working with vendor equipment (e.g., Ericsson, Huawei, Nokia).
- Proficiency in OSS platforms (e.g., ENM, U2020, NetAct), CLI commands, and node management.
- Familiar with interface protocols: S1, X2, NG, F1, GTP, etc.
- Ability to implement and verify RAN configuration parameters and scripts.
