- Description: Company Overview: Our client is a diversified investment group headquartered in Erbil, Iraq, with active operations and investments across Iraq, Turkiye, Jordan, Lebanon, UAE, and the UK. The group invests in large-scale infrastructure and strategic sectors including oil & gas, power, agriculture, and real estate. Due to the scale and complexity of its operations, the group is seeking an experiencedDeputy CFOto oversee core financial functions and support the CFO in managing group-wide financial governance and banking operations. Position Purpose: TheDeputy CFOwill play a key leadership role in managing the group’s accounting, managerial finance, banking operations, and legal functions. This role is critical in ensuring financial accuracy, operational efficiency, and compliance across the group’s diverse entities. The ideal candidate will be a certified CPA or CMA with substantial experience in holding companies or large, diversified business groups, and a strong background in financial controls, legal affairs, and banking relationship management. Key Responsibilities:
- Accounting & Financial Reporting:Oversee group accounting, financial consolidation, and reporting in compliance with IFRS and local regulatory standards.
- Managerial Finance:Lead budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial performance management across the group.
- Banking Operations:Manage relationships with local and international banks, ensure efficient cash management, oversee bank account structures, credit facilities, and optimize treasury operations in coordination with the Treasury Director.
- Legal Affairs:Supervise the group’s legal and regulatory matters, coordinate with internal legal teams and external counsel to ensure compliance and risk mitigation.
- Financial Controls:Implement and monitor internal controls, financial policies, and procedures to ensure integrity and accountability across all financial transactions.
- Strategic Support:Assist the CFO with financial planning, capital structuring, investment analysis, and funding strategies.
- Compliance & Auditing:Coordinate statutory audits, tax filings, and regulatory compliance with relevant authorities across all jurisdictions.
- Investment Support:Support financial due diligence, feasibility analysis, and structuring of new investments, partnerships, and projects.
- ERP and Systems Oversight:Lead or support finance-related systems upgrades (e.g., ERP), ensuring automation and efficiency in financial processes.
- Team Leadership:Build and develop a strong finance, banking, and legal team; ensure succession planning and talent development within the function.
- Reporting & Communication:Prepare financial presentations and reports for executive management, board members, and stakeholders.
- Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- CPA or CMA certification is mandatory.
- 15+ years of progressive finance experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role in a holding company or diversified business group.
- Experience inbanking operations, cash flow management, and bank relationship managementis essential.
- Prior experience as CFO, Deputy CFO, Group Finance Director, or Group Financial Controller.
- Strong understanding of IFRS, tax, regulatory, and legal frameworks in multi-country environments.
- Proven leadership in managing financial operations in complex and cross-border settings.
- Fluent in English; Arabic or Turkish is a plus.
- Willingness to be based in Erbil and travel when required.
