JOB TITLE: Program Associate

DURATION: 6 months with possibility of extension

ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT:
The incumbent will be responsible for supervising and implementing WFP’s emergency response, livelihoods, climate and resilience related projects in Erbil, Sulaymaniyah, Duhok and Halabja under the supervision of Erbil Field Office management, and technical guidance from Country Office Programme Unit, and overall guidance from Head of Programme.
JOB PURPOSE:
The position will provide oversight and support to the cash and food assistance and resilience/livelihood activities throughout Kurdistan Region of Iraq in the designated area(s) of responsibility.
ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Contributing to the implementation of WFP Policies, standards, norms and practices ensuring compliance with wider WFP policies, procedures, guidelines and operations.
- Provide technical support and assist in the development and implementation of various activities and processes within the specific area of work supporting alignment with wider programme policies and guidelines.
- Ensure and/or perform accurate, timely recording of data within the specific technical area of work (e.g. assistance programmes, food security and vulnerability assessments) and consistency of information presented to stakeholders.
- Liaise with internal counterparts to support effective collaboration, implementation and monitoring of ongoing project activities.
- Support the capacity building of WFP staff, cooperating partners and national government within the specific technical area.
- Create and track administrative documents that support project implementation such as Purchase requests, Purchase Orders, financial settlements… etc.
- Supporting the coordination with partner and local relevant authorities to ensure projects design and implementation as per the on-ground need.
- Arranging and attending follow up meetings with partners, donors and stakeholders and produce meeting reports to ensure efficient communication and coordination.
- Support in Identifying partnerships with key stakeholders including private sector, UN agencies, Governmental bodies and academia.
- Support with the delivery of any other delegated task(s) as required.
DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT:
The Programme Associate will provide technical support and implement all activities in the designated area(s) of responsibility.
Skills
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
EDUCATION: Desirable, bachelor’s degree in agriculture, Engineering, Economy, Social Sciences, Political Science, or any other relevant field. A minimum, Diploma in similar areas.
EXPERIENCE: As minimum of Six (6) years of work experience in Engineering, Economy, Social Sciences, Political Science, or any other relevant field
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
- Has worked with technical teams (i.e. nutrition, VAM, etc.).
- Has practical experience in resilience and livelihood projects.
- Has experience working with Governmental partners.
- Has worked extensively in tasks that involved relationship building and community engagement.
- Has expertise in grant and proposal writing in English
LANGUAGES:
Fluency in English, Arabic and Kurdish (Sorani) are required.
