Job Role
The Environmental Officer ensures the organization meets environmental standards and promotes sustainable practices across projects, facilities, and operations. This role monitors environmental performance, implements management plans, ensures compliance with regulations, and drives initiatives for continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all environmental aspects of assigned projects, yards, and facilities.
- Implement Environmental Management Plans (EMP) and support project HSE strategies.
- Monitor environmental performance and assess risks related to air, water, land, noise, dust, waste, and operations.
- Develop and implement strategies to minimize environmental impact and promote sustainability.
- Conduct environmental assessments and ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and organizational standards.
- Provide technical guidance and support on environmental issues.
- Promote environmental awareness and conduct training programs for employees and teams.
- Support the preparation of proposals, tenders, and project bids with an environmental focus.
- Continuously evaluate and improve environmental practices and operational processes.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering or environmental management.
- Knowledge of Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001) and relevant environmental legislation.
- Understanding of sustainability practices and environmental protection measures.
- ERP knowledge, preferably SAP functional skills.
Preferred Certifications:
- IEMA Environmental Certificate
- Sustainability Certification / GSAS Certification
- NEBOSH Diploma
- Lead Auditor Certification (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 22301)
Experience
- Minimum 6 years of total experience, including at least 5 years in environmental roles and 3 years in the GCC.
