Background
iMMAP Inc in Iraq. is implementing a project partnership with UNESCO aiming at operating, maintaining, training, and further developing the Education Management Information System (EMIS) for the Ministry of Education in Federal Iraq.
Description of Duties
Part of the EMIS project team and under the management of the Senior Software Engineer, the Database Engineer will:
- Work under the supervision of the Senior Software Engineer to develop and enhance EMIS features and applications based on assigned tasks.
- Support the assessment and review of the EMIS system and the Ministry of Education’s business needs to ensure alignment with project goals.
- Apply software engineering and database management best practices and standards throughout the Agile Software Development lifecycle.
- Provide technical support and guidance to the project team and stakeholders.
- Oversee testing processes to ensure the quality and reliability of software solutions.
- Review and contribute to technical documentation, user guides, and training materials, particularly focusing on database-related components.
- Collaborate with the Learning Officer to deliver training and technical support to the Ministry of Education (MoE).
- Coordinate with relevant MoE focal points to gather business requirements and feedback necessary for system enhancements and feature development.
- Perform tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Senior Software Engineer to support project objectives.
Requirements
Education
University degree in Information Technology, mathematics, statistics, computer Sciences or related area.
- Experience
- Mastery of the principles of data handling and processing.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in web development, database administration.
- Minimum of 5 years of experiences supporting Microsoft SQL Server RDBMS in an enterprise environment, with at least 3 years as a SQL Server Database Administrator.
Has analytical skills, experience in supporting very large databases in a production environment including proficiency in table partition design and implementation including creating, switching, and merging partitions.
Languages:
- Very good working knowledge of English is required.
- Working knowledge of Arabic and Kurdish is desirable.
