Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Chief Accountant role based in Basra. The Chief Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting the financial decision-making process. Key responsibilities include managing budgets, overseeing accounts payable and receivable, preparing financial statements, reconciling accounts, auditing processes, and leading the accounting team to meet organizational goals. The role requires a high level of attention to detail and understanding of financial regulations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Professional certification (CPA, ACCA, CMA, or equivalent) is an advantage
- Minimum 5–7 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a senior or supervisory role
- Strong knowledge of accounting standards, financial reporting, and taxation
- Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
- Proficiency in accounting systems and Microsoft Excel
- Experience in hospitality or service industry is preferred
- Strong command of English (written and spoken)
