Job Purpose
A Mechanical Engineer with a minimum of 5 years of experience, particularly in the MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) or building services sector, is expected to possess solid working knowledge of key building systems. These include HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, ventilation, and gas systems. The role involves contributing to the design, coordination, and implementation of mechanical systems in alignment with industry standards and project requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- HVAC Systems (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning):
- Design and implementation of VRF/VRV systems
- Chillers, AHUs (Air Handling Units), FCUs (Fan Coil Units), and associated components
- Ducting layouts and air balancing practices
- Plumbing & Drainage Systems:
- Cold and hot water supply systems
- Sewage and stormwater drainage networks
- Pump system design, selection, and flow calculations
- Fire Fighting Systems:
- Sprinkler system design and installation
- Fire hose reels, hydrants, and network layouts
- Working knowledge of NFPA standards
- LPG / Gas Systems:
- Gas piping design in compliance with safety codes
- Pressure regulation methods and leak detection systems
- Ventilation Systems:
- Fresh air and exhaust system design
- Pressurization systems for staircases and lift shafts
- Smoke extraction systems
- Parking area ventilation solutions
Additional Skills (Preferred):
- MEP coordination and shop drawing review
- Familiarity with international standards such as ASHRAE, NFPA, and IPC
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and HVAC simulation tools (e.g., HAP)
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years of MEP or building services experience.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, ventilation, and gas systems.
- Familiar with ASHRAE, NFPA, and IPC standards.
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, and HAP software.
- Experience in MEP coordination and shop drawing review.
