The Logistics Supervisor in a construction company is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all logistical operations related to construction projects. This includes managing the transportation, storage, and distribution of materials, equipment, and supplies to ensure timely delivery to job sites. The role requires close collaboration with project managers, suppliers, and vendors to optimize supply chain efficiency and minimize downtime on construction projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Logistics Coordination: Plan, coordinate, and supervise the movement and storage of construction materials, equipment, and tools to and from project sites.
- Inventory Management: Maintain accurate inventory records and monitor stock levels to ensure materials availability while avoiding overstocking.
- Vendor and Supplier Management: Liaise with suppliers, vendors, and transport companies to schedule deliveries and resolve issues related to delays or shortages.
- Team Supervision: Lead and manage logistics staff, including drivers, warehouse workers, and site coordinators to ensure smooth operations.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure all logistics activities comply with company policies, safety regulations, and industry standards.
- Documentation: Prepare and maintain records related to shipments, deliveries, vehicle maintenance, and inventory.
- Problem Solving: Quickly address and resolve logistical challenges, such as supply chain disruptions, transportation delays, or inventory discrepancies.
- Cost Management: Monitor and control logistics costs, seeking cost-effective solutions without compromising quality or delivery timelines.
- Reporting: Provide regular updates and reports to project managers and senior management regarding logistics status and performance metrics.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce operational risks.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
- Proven experience (typically 3-5 years) in logistics or supply chain management within the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of construction materials, equipment, and project workflows.
- Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
- Proficient in logistics software and inventory management systems.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Valid driver’s license and experience managing transportation operations.
Working Conditions:
